Adult Education
The Workforce Education Project
is pleased to announce a $714,000 grant award from the
Indiana Department of Workforce Development. The
Workforce Education Project, funded by the Indiana
Department of Education (IDOE), Office of Adult Education,
has entered into a partnership with the Indiana Department
of Workforce Development (DWD) to expand workforce
literacy education programs- a common goal and critical
need for Indiana's business community. The goal of
this partnership is to improve the skills of approximately
1,000 Indiana workers by providing workforce basic skills
training resulting in educational gain ultimately with a
goal of placement in postsecondary education following
literacy training.
With program funding from DWD,
the Workforce Education Project will be bale to supplement
existing programs and allow more employers to have access
to workforce literacy classes in Indiana companies.
The targeted audience for these funds will be workers in
the following categories:
* Workers needing English as a Second Language (ESL)
training
* Workers needing basic skills training
* Workers needing remediation to prepare for postsecondary
and/or technical training
* Workers seeking a GED diploma
